For Your Poem Entry - Victory Tree
On high yonder mountain you stand. Your limbs outstretched, greeting man.
Your roots like melting wax, tumble as a shroud, breathing life for victory, on this your homely ground.
No leaf in spring pushes from your heart. Waiting, holding back, you ache for summer.
I’ve watched you grow old, gracefully, bowing to all that track your call.
You have held the moon in your yolk at night, we watched together the passing.
You reach out to the sky, a tyrant of survival. Your being entwined in nature’s arrival.
You are the Victory Tree. You teach me, not how, but why.
