Peppermint Patty The Gold Medallist

Peppermint Patty,
She skates between the mountains,
And the evergreens!
The Peanuts Gang cheers!
Linus waves his blue blanket,
And Woodstock whistles!
This makes Snoopy cry!
He cannot contain himself!
He sheds happy tears!
Peppermint Patty,
She is on the podium!
Her medal is gold!

WRITER’S NOTE: In addition to the Peanuts special “She’s A Good Skate, Charlie Brown,” inspiration came from both a picture on page 26 of the book “The Hand That Paints The Sky” and learning that my favorite skater Oksana Baiul had won a gold medal. (“She’s A Good Skate, Charlie Brown” is one of the Peanuts specials playing at the movie theatre of the Charles M. Schulz Museum And Research Center this month. I watched a clip of it at YouTube.)
